Pastor's Corner - 9/16

“You cannot serve God and money” (Luke 16:13).

Jesus tells the story of a manager who had been entrusted with another man’s possessions. The problem was that he began treating what belonged to his master as though it were his own.

We can easily do the same.

We speak of my money, my house, my time, and my abilities. Yet Scripture reminds us, “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1). Everything we have ultimately belongs to God. We are not owners. We are stewards.

That changes the question. Instead of asking, “What do I want to do with what I have?” we begin asking, “Lord, how do you want me to use what you have entrusted to me?”

Dear Church, Jesus calls us to be faithful with what is in our hands today and to use temporary resources with eternity in view. Our possessions, opportunities, and even our time will eventually pass away. What we do for the kingdom of God will not.
