"God’s Faithful Love in Our Faithless Moments"
“Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 106:1 (ESV)
Psalm 106 is a powerful reminder of two things: the unchanging faithfulness of God and the recurring unfaithfulness of His people. The psalm recounts Israel's history, from their deliverance from Egypt to their repeated sins of forgetfulness, rebellion, and idolatry. And yet, through it all, God remains merciful.
Over and over, the people turn from God, and over and over, God hears their cries and delivers them. Why? Because of His steadfast love, a love that doesn’t give up, even when we fail.
Verse 44-45 gives us hope:
"Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry. For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love."
God’s love isn’t based on our performance. It’s grounded in His covenant and His character. This psalm invites us to humbly remember our own failures, not in shame, but in gratitude that we serve a God who forgives, restores, and never lets go.
Where have you seen God’s mercy show up in your own moments of forgetfulness or failure?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your steadfast love that endures even when I stumble. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and to live in grateful obedience. Amen.
