Pastor's Corner - 7/22

Jesus once said, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15). He then told the parable of a rich man whose land produced plentifully. Confident in his wealth, the man built bigger barns and planned to enjoy many years of comfort. But that very night, God required his soul.

The problem was not that the man was rich. The problem was that he built his life around treasures that could never satisfy or save. He carefully planned for his future on earth but gave little thought to eternity. His security rested in what he had accumulated rather than in the God who had provided it all.

Jesus calls us to a different way of living. Rather than laying up treasure for ourselves, we are to be rich toward God. That begins when Christ becomes our greatest treasure.

Dear Church, let us ask ourselves, What am I living for? May our lives reflect that our greatest treasure is not what we own, but the Savior who gave himself for us. Because Jesus gave himself to give you an eternal inheritance, live rich toward God.
