Pastor's Corner - 5/13

Mother’s Day reminds us that love is often shown through quiet perseverance.

Many mothers carry burdens no one else fully sees. They pray for children late at night. They worry. They sacrifice. They wait. Sometimes they wonder what God is doing when life does not unfold the way they hoped.

That is why Luke 7 is such a comforting passage.

John the Baptist, the bold prophet who once proclaimed Jesus with confidence, now sits in prison asking, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” Even faithful people wrestle with doubt when circumstances become painful or confusing.

Jesus does not shame John for asking. Instead, He points him to the truth. The blind see. The lame walk. The poor hear good news. In other words, “Look at what I am doing. God is still at work.”

Later in the chapter, a forgiven woman pours out extraordinary love at Jesus’ feet. Her devotion flows from gratitude, as she knows she has been forgiven.

That is the invitation for all of us this Mother’s Day. Bring your doubts honestly to Jesus, and bring your heart to him in worship. Whether this day is joyful, painful, or somewhere in between, Christ sees you, welcomes you, and reminds you that His grace is enough.

Dear Church, thank God today for faithful mothers and women who reflect Christ through quiet sacrifice and steadfast love. And wherever you find yourself this week, keep trusting Jesus. He is still at work, even when the path is hard to understand.
