Pastor's Corner - 5/20

The parable of the sower reminds us that the Word of God is always powerful, but the condition of our hearts matters deeply. Jesus describes four kinds of soil, each representing how people receive His Word. Some hearts are hardened, some shallow, some distracted, and some receptive. The difference is not in the seed but in the response.

This passage calls us to examine ourselves honestly. Are we allowing worries, busyness, or comfort to choke out what God is saying? Are we quick to respond with emotion but slow to endure when life gets difficult? Or are we holding fast to the Word with a steady and faithful heart?

The good soil is not perfect, but it is receptive. It listens, holds on, and over time bears fruit. That kind of heart does not come from effort alone. It comes from Jesus, who gives new life and opens our ears to truly hear.

As we reflect, the invitation is simple. Listen carefully. Hold tightly. Live faithfully.

Dear Church, take care how you hear. Receive the Word with an open heart, hold fast to it in every season, and trust that God will produce fruit in your life.
