Hope
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.” Isaiah 9:2 (ESV)
Isaiah spoke to a people surrounded by gloom, political oppression, spiritual confusion, and personal despair. Yet into that darkness, he proclaims a promise: a great light is coming. Advent begins with hope because hope is born in darkness. Not the hope of wishful thinking, but the hope rooted in God’s unbreakable Word. Christ, the Light of the World, steps into our darkest places and shines with a hope that cannot be extinguished. Whatever shadows you walk through today, His light is greater.
Jesus, shine Your hope into our hearts. Help us trust Your promises even when we cannot see the whole story. Amen.
