Pastor's Corner - 4/22

The disciples on the road to Emmaus were discouraged. They had hoped Jesus would redeem Israel, but now the cross seemed to have shattered everything. Even the reports of the empty tomb had not yet lifted their hearts. Yet in the middle of their confusion, the risen Jesus came near. He walked with them, opened the Scriptures, and revealed Himself. Looking back, they said, “Did not our hearts burn within us” as He spoke.
This passage reminds us that Jesus does not abandon deflated believers. He comes near to them. He meets us in our sadness, corrects us with His Word, and restores us with His presence. He turns confused hearts into burning hearts.
Luke 24 reminds us that disappointment is not the end of the story. The risen Christ still comes near. He still opens the Scriptures. He still gives hope to those who are slow of heart.
Dear Church, when disappointment weighs you down, do not walk away from hope. Stay near to Christ, stay in His Word, and ask Him to make your heart burn again with resurrection joy.
