Zechariah and Elizabeth lived faithfully, yet they carried a deep sorrow. Their barren years were filled with prayers that seemed unanswered. Advent reminds us that peace does not begin with changed circumstances but with the God who enters our waiting. Zechariah steps into the temple simply doing his job. In that ordinary moment, God breaks His silence and speaks the words every fearful heart needs to hear: “Do not be afraid.” True peace comes when we hear and trust God’s Word.
The announcement of John’s birth is a reminder that God has not forgotten His people. His timing is perfect. His presence is near. John will prepare the way for Jesus, the Prince of Peace, whose coming brings reconciliation and hope to all who believe.
Dear Church, ask God to speak peace into your heart where fear has taken root. Remember that peace is not found in controlling outcomes but in resting in the One who holds all things together. Christ has come, and He is with you. May His Word lead you into deeper trust as you wait on Him this Advent.
