The God Who Redeems and Provides

As the season starts to change, we notice cooler mornings, leaves changing color, and signs of harvest everywhere. With fall comes Harvest Festivals, Thanksgiving, and soon the excitement of Christmas. These seasonal shifts remind us of God's faithfulness, the One who created the seasons and entered our broken world to redeem it.

Scripture reminds us: “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22, ESV)

Every year, the turning of the seasons is God’s way of showing His faithfulness and order in creation. Just as harvest brings forth abundance, God’s grace overflows in our lives through Jesus Christ.

As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, we recall that the God who gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater (Isaiah 55:10) has also given us His Son, the greatest gift of all.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9, ESV)

Jesus gave everything, His very life, so that we might have all things in Him: forgiveness, peace, hope, and eternal life. The harvest of the fields points us to the greater harvest of souls that He has redeemed.

As we gather with family and friends in these months of gratitude and celebration, let us not only thank God for the blessings of food, warmth, and fellowship, but also for the cross and the empty tomb. Christ is our Redeemer, the One who gave all, that we might truly have all.

“Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15, ESV)

· How can I use the rhythms of this season to slow down and remember Christ’s sacrifice?

· In what ways can I show gratitude, not only for God’s provision, but also for His redemption?

· Who in my life needs to hear about the hope of Christ during this season?

Father, thank You for the beauty of the changing seasons that remind us of Your faithfulness. Thank You for providing for our daily needs, and above all, for giving us Your Son, Jesus, who gave all so that we would have all. Help us to walk in gratitude, to share Your love with others, and to celebrate this season with hearts fixed on Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.
