Pastor's Corner - 3/26

As we come to the end of Lent, we find ourselves standing at the threshold of something weighty and wonderful. These past weeks have invited us to slow down, to examine our hearts, and to remember that we are dust, and yet deeply loved by God.
Lent has been a journey of repentance and reflection. We have considered the reality of our sin and our need for grace. And now, as we arrive at Palm Sunday, we watch Jesus enter Jerusalem, not as a distant figure, but as the Savior who came for us.
The crowds cry out, “Hosanna!” waving palm branches and celebrating their King. Yet we know what they do not fully understand: this King has come not to take a throne, but to go to a cross.
As Holy Week unfolds, the tone shifts. Joy gives way to sorrow. The One who is praised will be rejected. The One who is sinless will be crucified. And we are reminded that it was not merely the crowd’s sin that led Him there, it was ours.
Good Friday confronts us with a sobering truth: our sin is costly. It required the death of the Son of God. But it also reveals something even greater—God’s love is deeper than we can comprehend. Jesus willingly bore our guilt, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserved.
And then, everything changes.
Easter morning breaks with a declaration that echoes through history and into our very lives: “He is risen! He is risen indeed!”
The cross was not the end. The tomb is empty. Sin has been conquered. Death has been defeated.
As we finish this Lenten journey, we are not left in sorrow; we are lifted into hope. Christ’s work is finished. There is nothing left for us to earn. If we trust in Him, in His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, we are forgiven and restored to a right relationship with our heavenly Father.
This is the good news that carries us beyond Lent, not just into Easter Sunday, but into every day of our lives.
So as you step out of this season, do not leave behind what God has shown you. Carry it with you:
- A deeper awareness of your need for grace
- A greater love for Christ and His sacrifice
- And a stronger hope in the power of the resurrection
Because the story of Lent does not end in the grave, it ends in victory.
How has the Lord used this Lenten season to deepen your understanding of His grace and your need for Christ?
Father, as this Lenten season comes to a close, thank You for meeting me in repentance and drawing me closer to You. Thank You for the cross, where my sin was paid in full, and for the empty tomb, which gives me living hope. Help me to walk forward in the joy and freedom of Christ’s finished work. Strengthen my faith and fix my eyes on the risen Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
