Pastor's Corner - 12/3

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. - Luke 1:1-4

We are now in the season of Advent, a time that invites us to look back with gratitude to the first coming of Christ and to look ahead with confidence to His return. One of the themes we reflect on during these weeks is hope. Biblical hope is not a wish or a vague desire. It is a confident expectation grounded in the promises of God and the unchanging truth of His Word.

In his prologue, Luke tells us why he wrote the gospel. He carefully investigated everything from the beginning. He listened to eyewitnesses. He gathered what had been faithfully handed down. He shaped an orderly account so that believers might know the certainty of the things they had been taught. God has not left us guessing. He has given us a Savior rooted in real history, witnessed by real people, and revealed through His reliable word.

All of us wrestle with doubts from time to time. Luke invites us to bring those questions to Scripture. When we struggle, we do so with our Bibles open. When we need clarity, we lean on the truth God has given rather than the shifting feelings within us.

Dear Church, as you move through this Advent week, take time to ground your faith in God's Word. Bring your doubts into the light and let Scripture guide your steps. Prepare your heart for Christ by remembering who He is and what He has done. He lived the life we could not live. He died for our sins. He rose in triumph to give us everlasting life. May this hope fill your heart today.

Merry Christmas!
