Pastor's Corner - 2/25

Luke 5:1-32 reminds us that Jesus consistently moves toward people long before they ever move toward him. Simon is tired and fruitless after a long night of fishing. A man with leprosy has been pushed to the margins. A paralyzed man cannot get himself to Jesus. Levi is sitting at a tax booth, dismissed and despised by others. Yet in each scene, Jesus takes the first step. He calls. He cleans. He forgives. He welcomes. None of these people clean themselves up first. None present impressive credentials. They simply encounter Jesus, and everything changes.
We often assume God is waiting for a better version of us. We tell ourselves we will come back once we are stronger, wiser, or more consistent. Today’s text shows us a different kind of Savior. Jesus meets us as we are and invites us into a new way of life shaped by grace. He calls ordinary people to follow Him. He cleanses what is broken. He forgives what is buried. He welcomes those who feel far from God.
The invitation is not complicated. Follow Him. Come clean. Trust Him. Come home.
Because Jesus is the Christ, we can come to Him without fear and follow Him with confidence.
