Pastor's Corner - 2/18

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of honest self-examination, repentance, and renewed trust in Christ. We remember that we are dust, and to dust we shall return. Yet we also remember that God, in mercy, has drawn near to us in Jesus.
In Luke 4, Jesus stands in the synagogue and declares, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” He announces good news for the poor, freedom for captives, and sight for the blind. These words are not only a proclamation of hope but also a revelation of our condition. Apart from Christ, we are spiritually poor, captive, blind, and in need of a Savior.
Lent invites us to stop pretending otherwise.
We come with empty hands, honest hearts, and a humble confession: we need a Savior.
Dear Church, as we begin this Lenten season today, do not hide your brokenness. Bring it to Jesus. Turn from sin. Trust His mercy. Walk with Him toward the cross, knowing that resurrection life awaits.
